Initiation came early for a group of teenage girls. Twenty-six cheerleaders stuffed themselves into an elevator at the University of Texas trying to see how many it would fit. They didn’t account for the fact that they might get stuck. The prank injured three girls - two of which had to be treated at the scene.

The group was made up of 14-17 year old girls who were attending their cheerleading camp at the time. It seems that they got bored and wanted to have some fun by seeing how many would fit in the compact elevator. They noticed something went wrong after the doors refused to open when it stopped at the first floor.

After a few panicked cell phone calls, police and firefighters were called to the scene and it took a repairman about 25 minutes to fix the door, police said. UT officials didn’t think the prank was all that funny.

“It’s dangerous, actually,” said UT police spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon. “They’re lucky that that’s all that happened.”
