Truth Or Fiction - ‘Rice Washing’
Posted by admin under Stupid Stories,Sometimes the stories we hear seem too crazy or funny to actually be true. Trying to sort out the truth from the fiction is a hard job so we have decided to do it for you. Each week we will be giving you a story that we know is 100% real. The trick is you have to guess which ending you think is the right one. After a week we will reveal what the real ending is and will see how many of you got it right. Right now we are still working out some kinks on how we can get people to vote for each choice. For now you will have to remember and check it out next week to find out.
Dee tucked the note that her mom had left with her lunch, in her pocket. Her chore for dinner today would be a piece of cake, or a piece of rice to be more precise.
Sweetie, Please wash 2 cups of raw white rice for supper when you get home from school, and put them in the small glass bowl. Love, Mom
Dee never gave the note a second thought until that afternoon. It was about 4:00 and her mom would be home around 5:00, so Dee figured that she needed to get started. The only thing was that her mom hadn’t said how clean it needed to be, and when she would know that it was clean enough. But, oh well, she could at least get started.
(You choose which ending is the truth, and which is fiction)
1. Dee proceeded to get out all the things she would need for her task: the glass bowl that Mom had stated, the bag of white rice, the cup measure, and the Comet. She put the rice, Comet and some water in the bowl and started scrubbing. She was still scrubbing when her mom walked through the door from work. As Dee’s mom walked to the counter to give Dee a hug and kiss, she saw that Dee was hard at work “washing” the rice, but the water had a strange blue color. She asked Dee what she had put in the bowl. When Dee added the Comet to her list; her Mom gasped and then laughed until the tears ran. Needless to say, Dee got a lesson on how to wash rice; (after they had thrown that batch away).
2. Dee proceeded to get out all the things she would need for her task: the glass bowl that Mom had stated, the bag of white rice, and the cup measure. She put the rice in the bowl and figured that she had better make sure the water was hot enough to get the rice clean. She heated some water in the kettle and poured it over the rice and started stirring the rice around and then dumping the water out, and adding more not noticing that the texture of the rice was dramatically changing. She was still washing when her mom walked through the door from work. As Dee’s mom walked to the counter to give Dee a hug and kiss, she saw that Dee was hard at work, but the white gluey substance that met her eyes made her ask Dee what she was doing. When Dee proudly stated that she was washing the rice, and that she had been diligently at it since 4:00; her Mom gasped and then laughed until the tears ran. Needless to say, Dee got a lesson on how to wash rice; (after they had thrown that batch away).
